Father Travis holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Leuven, Belgium, where he wrote his dissertation on the work of Søren Kierkegaard. A father of four and avid fly-fisher, he was ordained in 2004 and has been Rector of St Barnabas since 2007. He has also recently held the position of Director of Anglican Studies at the Vancouver School of Theology.
Travis is the author of A Word Shared Between Us: Praying in a Time of Exile (Wipf and Stock 2022).
Saint Barnabas is blessed with seven honorary assistant priests who support the rector by assisting with and celebrating Sunday and weekday Masses, hearing confessions, and offering pastoral support. Our honorary assistants are the Rev'd Canon Dr Martin Brokenleg, the Rev'd Walter Donald, the Rev'd Elaina Hyde-Mill, the Rev'd Canon Peter Shurvin, the Rev'd John Hannen, the Rev'd Canon Philip Wadham, and the Rev'd Jim McCorriston.
Jasmin grew up in Germany. She studied at the Albert-Ludwig University, Freiburg. There she completed her Master’s Degree in Philosophy and German Literature. She met Travis while studying in London, England, and they have four children together. Jasmin has been the Community Life minister at St Barnabas since 2015. She loves especially the opportunity to create special spaces that bring people of all ages and backgrounds together.
Kelly Charlton is a keyboardist (piano, organ, harpsichord) equally at home as accompanist, chamber and church musician, having collaborated with an extensive variety of singers, instrumentalists and chamber ensembles in a career spanning more than 30 years. He has performed extensively in Canada, England, France and Germany, and is known for his sensitive and supportive playing.
For many years Mr. Charlton lived and worked in London (UK) as conductor of the Renaissance chamber choir ‘The New Friends’ Musick’ which he founded in 1990. Since his return to Canada in 2006 Kelly has played with the Victoria Symphony, the Aventa Ensemble and a variety of professional chamber ensembles. He has held posts at Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria (Ass. Director of Music 2007-2015) and at First Met United Church (Director of Music 2015-2023). Kelly is delighted to be the new Director of Music at St. Barnabas.
As Parish Administrator, Andrea plays a vital role in the daily life of our church community. From coordinating schedules and managing communications to supporting clergy and parishioners alike, she ensures that everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. With a heart for service and a gift for organization, Andrea helps create a welcoming and well-ordered environment where ministry can thrive.
The wardens at our church serve as dedicated leaders who help support the spiritual and practical life of our congregation. Working closely with the clergy and parish members, they provide guidance, ensure the smooth running of services and events, and help care for the church's property and mission. Their commitment, faith, and service are a vital part of our church community.
The treasurer plays a key role in the life of our church, overseeing the financial health and stewardship of our resources. With care and integrity, they manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure transparency in all financial matters. Their faithful service supports the mission and ministry of our church in practical and meaningful ways.
The envelope secretary faithfully manages the recording of weekly offerings and donations, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely reporting. Their behind-the-scenes work helps uphold good stewardship practices and supports the financial integrity of our church community.

This month, we say goodbye to Anne, one of our treasured international volunteers. She has brought unique perspectives, warmth, and vibrant energy to our community. We’re grateful for the time she spent with us and the friendships formed along the way. As Anne embarks on the next chapter of her journey, we wish her every success and happiness in all that lies ahead. She will be greatly missed but always part of our community.
