Why do we give?

Money represents so many things: security, success, freedom.  When we offer a financial gift in thanksgiving to God’s work in the church, we indicate that not only our money, but also all these things that our money represents to us is God’s gift to us, gifts we steward for the good of all.

St Barnabas is entirely reliant on the generosity of its members and benefactors to fund the cost of its ministries.  We receive no grants from the Diocese or other church agency.  In fact, the reverse is the case: we give 16.5% of parish income to support the ministries of the Diocese of BC and the Anglican Church of Canada. When you give to St Barnabas, therefore, you are sharing in God’s work both locally (through the worship and ministries of our parish) as well as further afield, as we help to maintain the church’s presence in the rural areas of our Diocese and in the far north.
